Definition

Menometrorrhagia is excessive uterine bleeding at irregular intervals.

There are many causes of menometrorrhagia including both benign polyps and malignant cancers of the cervix and endometrium.

The result is excessive blood flow (>80 cc) at irregular intervals.

Structural and functional changes vary depending on cause.

Women present clinically due to their excessive bleeding often between menses.

Diagnosis is based on clinical history and treatment depends on the cause found at evaluation.
